HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT MORNING

Maybe it's my rapidly increasing age - BRB while I cry into my lavender scented, floral blanket - or just that I am a major granny in a 20 something's body, but there is nothing I love more than taking the time to create the perfect morning. Mornings are my time. I mean, getting up at 5:30am/6am always feels like death but once your body and mind has actually woken up, there's nothing like the perfect quiet time to yourself to set you up for an amazing day ahead.

Luckily for me, the babes at Tempur - i.e queens of Mattresses and comfort - feel the same way and put on a (ridiculously fun and lovely) event all around creating the perfect morning, so I decided to take some tips from said event, and my own little somethin somethin's too to put together a post to help you create your own perfect morning too.

I'm still working out how to kidnap and force McDreamy/Harvey Specter/[insert your own choice of dream man here] to join me for said dreamboat of a morning but I'll keep you updated.

Lol, I wish I was joking. I really wish I was...
A good night's sleep
There is no such thing as a perfect morning without a pretty damn amazing sleep. Oh sleep you big fat babe, you! And I really wanted to give you a few tips because as a lot of you will know, I suffered terribly with insomnia for years, tried CBT, hypnotherapy, just about everything and I've finally found what works for me.

A healthy breakfast
If you're anything like me, the temptation to demolish a fry up/pancake stack/bowl of bacon in the morning is oh so strong, but starting the day with a healthy (but obviously still delicious af) meal will just make you feel so much more alert and ready for the day and not at all sluggish. Tempur had the most Instagram worthy Granola, fruit, yogurt and toppings station - yes I said "one of everything please" and no I'm not sorry - and not only was it so delicious, but it really did set me up for the day.
Yoga
I've practised yoga a few times now but I have to say, the incredible lady at the event - I so wish I knew her name - did the most insane class that I've ever had. It was still very zen and not too intense, but she also came round and massaged out knots in the middle of poses too (I'm now considering hiring someone to massage me every morning, any takers?) and I left the session feeling so calm and collected and ready to be a girl boss (until I realised I had toilet tissue stuck to my trainer the whole time #nailinglife). But it was honestly incredible and something that I really need to incorporate into my life. Yoga is so amazing for your mind, body and soul and there's nothing like looking after yourself to start your day off right.

Morning Mantra
I know what you're thinking, when did Elle turn into a raging tree hugging hippie but hear me out on this one. Our Yoga teacher told us to say one nice thing about ourselves at the end of practice. At this time, I'd had one of the busiest and most challenging months of my life. I had the most manic day ahead and I just couldn't help but for once sit back and reflect and say "actually girl, ya done good. You work your butt off, and it's kinda paying off". And I really hope that doesn't sound arrogant or self indulgent, but one thing I realised is that we all lead such busy lives that sometimes we forget to stop and take a moment to realise that we achieved so much. So yeah, every morning, say something kind to yourself, pick out things you're grateful for and I promise you you can't not feel positive.

So that brings me to the end of my little perfect morning post. I honestly don't think there's anything better than falling into the most insanely comfortable bed at night, waking up so refreshed and taking the time to start your day in the most perfect way.

I would love to know what makes a perfect morning for you? Is there really anything better than a bed that feels like you're laying on clouds? ;) I always love hearing your thoughts!

As always, thanks so much for reading!

xx
