Sometimes I post things online and people are all like “haha, lols, she’s bants” and don’t quite take what I’m saying seriously. Like when I said that I almost love Heathrow airport shopping and food as much as I love going holiday itself.
I wish I was joking...
But it’s true, there’s just something about the airport environment that I love. The constant buzz of happiness/excitement/anticipation of a holiday, the possibility of a fresh start, the possibility of avocado toast - don’t judge me, you know you were excited too - and of course, the absolute dreamboat that is shopping at Heathrow airport.
There’s just so much choice, so much variety, so much "omg need it in my life please and thank you" inspo that even though I've definitely researched swatches and reviews prior and have a rough idea of what I want, I still spend a good couple of hours browsing with all the heart eye'd emoji expressions in the world.
And that's exactly what happened when I went to New York last week and I just "oh whoops accidentally turned up nearly 4 hours before my flight" and had lots of time to eat and shop.
I am a bit of panicky check in/hand luggage/"omg they gonna scan me for bombs and I know I don't have one so why am I so nervous?" kinda girl so when I get through to departures I am all for sitting down over a chilled breakfast and that's exactly what we did. We ended up in Wondertree and I obvs did that thing where I erm, kinda just massively over order. I went for the scrambled eggs on toast with a side of bacon and avocado - #killingit - and it was absolutely delicious. This was honestly one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time, the gluten free bread was really frickin good and the portion size was just right for me (i.e huge). There wasn't a single disappointing aspect about it, as goes for Dan who is fussy af a little fussier than I am. He went for the salmon and cream cheese bagel with avocado and thoroughly enjoyed it/absolutely demolished it!
So once you've eaten a breakfast that makes you so full you could burst, obviously it's time to check out the plane snacks. For me, it's all about the chocolate life so a family bag of mini bounty's a couple of galaxy bars and a bottle of water (balance right? lols) is always the way forward. Then it's time for entertainment, I picked up After You by Jojo Moyes because Me Before You is one of my all time favourite books, and I am absolutely loving it so far. It does make me all "oh ffs, I miss Will all over again now" but there's nothing better than getting as comfy as you can on the plane, getting a cuppa ready and devouring a book. With 10 mini bounty's. Obvs.
Now we're on to the good stuff. Make up. This is the point where Dan goes off to look at Man stuff (I have no idea what this is either) and I spend forever and a day perving at every stand pretty much begging my bank account to be kind to me. I firstly go into Mac because it's the most nostalgic of all - I was the 17 yr old that pretty much bought a new Mac lipstick every week #livingoffofbakedbeans - and this time I opted for Kinda Sexy. I'd eye'd it up for a long time and I am so happy I got it because it's everything that my peachy, coral, brown nude lip dreams are made of. It's a matte but is extremely comfortable to wear and lasts for hours too. An absolutely gorgeous option.
Then I went for the kinda boring but totally necessary concealer purchase in the form of the Nars creamy concealer because *shock horror* I've never actually owned it before. And yep, guess what, it's a bit of a dreamboat too. It's very pigmented, high coverage, lasts really well and doesn't crease anywhere near as much as most concealers do.
Finally, I purchased a product that has never made me feel so sassy and ladylike; it's Dior Incognito nail polish and makes me feel like a mix of Kate Middleton and Olivia Palermo (until I look in the mirror and am bitterly disappointed, obvs.) It's the most gorgeous dusky pink, beige nude - lols, descriptive skills on point - and just looks so classy and goes with absolutely everything. This has become a bit of a go to for me and currently hasn't left my nails in nearly 2 weeks [insert hand clapping emojis here].
And that brings my extremely random but very lovely - in my eyes - haul to an end. As I've mentioned, nothing makes me happier than airport shopping and Heathrow just happens to be absolutely babein on that front. Oh, and it's pretty great at food too. But jokes aside, I love that if it's makeup, snacks, a full on meal, a book, a new Gucci handbag (yes please and thank you. Bye.), pretty much anything is available to buy when shopping at Heathrow.
I'd love to know what you always pick up at airports and if you're a bit of a fangirl like I am?
As always, thanks so much for reading!
xx
