FINDING THE ONE - MY JO MALONE BRIDAL CONSULTATION

For a relatively highly strung/anxious person, I think I am quite possibly the least bridezilla kinda bride to be that you've ever seen. You see, I have this bloody ridiculous slightly worrying habit of putting huge tasks off til later because Dobby the house elf and the unicorns will work their magic and just somehow do it all for me (looks like I'll be getting married in a bin bag in my back garden ladies, bet you can't wait to see that post).

But there are a few things that I've put a little more thought into ever since getting engaged; what makeup will I wear on the day, will I even have a makeup artist or just do my usual dodgy winged liner myself, what the frickin hell will be my something blue, and most recently, which fragrance will I wear on the day/

You'll all know by now that I'm a huge fragrance girl and absolutely adore switching up, layering, and completely remixing my scents, which is why my wedding day fragrance - eek, even just saying wedding day gives me those nervous jitters - had to be layered so that I could make the perfect combination, and it had to be from Jo Malone.

Yep, no surprise there whatsoever #JoMaloneFangirlForLife...

So I headed off to the Jo Malone boutique which if you haven't visited yet, you really should, even just to check out how beautifully dreamy the whole place is. And after having a good natter with the lovely Holly from Jo Malone - sorry Holly for accidentally papping you in some of these photo's - I finally sat down at the consultation bar (I could totally be making up that name but there is a gorgeous bar at one end of the store) where my fiance and I were spoken through how the process would work.

The lovely fragrance combining/bridal consultation mega star - again, technical terms I think not - started off by asking me if I had any favourite scents from Jo Malone already (hey Peony and blush suede and Wood sage and Salt, looking at you!). We then spoke through the kind of scents I like generally, what kind of wedding we'd be having; the location, the colour scheme, the vibe and basically anything else you could think of and our wonderful consultant then went on to pick out some scents she thought would combine well with my previous favourites.

What I loved most about the consultation was that I felt so at ease the whole time. We went through a fair amount of combinations that were lovely but just not quite right and I never once felt like I had to just quickly get on with it and panic say yes to one, or like I was taking up too much time. I think the thing about Jo Malone and the bridal consultation is that they aren't happy unless you are happy. So after experimenting with a lot of combinations I finally narrowed it down to 4 options where we started over with a fresh palette to smell the combinations as if it were the first time. I absolutely loved this because I really do think your favourites immediately jump out at you, and for me personally, they definitely did.

What I also love is that my fiance who came along with me - for support and for photography reasons #BlogHusband - was also asked what he liked, and I think that really helped make my final decision as of course, you want your future husband to actually like how you smell. [Insert "I'm an independant woman so I'll pick what I want"/"No but seriously, do I smell like a beautiful blushing bride or a rose garden?" emoji here].

After what felt like a relatively long time - I was actually told that I was really quick but ever the polite brit, eh? - I finally settled on a combination that I absolutely adore, as does my husband to be - husband to be, jesus frickin christ that sounds scary, I think I might actually be an adult now - and so a hand massage with one of the stunning body cremes in one of my fragrance combination (they are without a doubt the most luxurious, amazing cremes in existence), followed by spritzing my second scent over the top.

By layering the creme and the cologne intense, it really does help your fragrance to last so much longer which of course, is exactly what you want on your big day. It also gives you the option - something I'd never thought about - to start off with once scent for the ceremony, and then amp it up by layering the second scent for the party. I love this idea, although I think I love my combo a little too much and want to wear it throughout the whole day.

To be totally honest with you, there was a big part of me that wanted to keep my combination a secret as it's quite a personal thing to have your own scent for your wedding day, and then I realised two things. 1) Elle, you sound like a massively diva, obnoxious twat! and 2) this would potentially be the most annoying post ever if I didn't actually tell you what I went for. So, my absolutely perfect wedding combination is the Jo Malone English pear and freesia body creme and the Velvet Rose and oud cologne intense layered over the top, and it's absolutely stunning!
After my dreamy consultation and hand massage - please can I have one of these everyday? - we then took a stroll into the beautiful Artisan studio where I'd actually been before but I knew Dan would love. The studio is home to where all personalisation and customisation happen. From engraving the lid with your initials, to stamping your (beautifully wrapped) boxes to the ribbons that you'll never want to throw away. This is the place that makes Jo Malone even more special (I know, I didn't think that was possible either).

So that wraps up this post. In short, if you're a bride to be (congratulations!) and you're looking for your perfect fragrance, then I genuinely couldn't recommend the Jo Malone Bridal consultation enough. An absolutely wonderful experience (that you get to enjoy with up to 3-4 of your nearest and dearest) and you come away with the most luxurious, decadent and completely perfect fragrance that will always remind you of your special day. I think that's pretty bloody lovely if you ask me :)

I would love to know if you've ever had a bridal consultation before, if it's something you'd ever consider, or even if you've been to the Regent Street boutique before? I always love to hear your thoughts!

As always. thanks so much for reading!

xx
