FRAGRANCE COMBINING WITH JO MALONE

Jo Malone Fragrance Combining
When I think of the perfect combination, a lot of things come to mind. Cheese and pickle being at the top (because cheese is bae and I ain't even sorry), Harvey Spector and Mike Ross are a top spot close contender (#SuitsFangirlForevz), Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner and Mac Faux being another firm favourite (Oh Hey Kylie Jenner lip colour alert) but my ultimate favourite combination of late? My personal fragrance combination from Jo Malone.

At the end of January - seriously, how the blimmin heck has a month passed since that time? - myself and three of my fave blogging ladies (Sabrina, Gemma and Kate) headed to the Jo Malone townhouse which is oh my god so amazing I need to Instagram every inch of the place kinda gorgeous, for a Fragrance Combining consultation.

Now, we are all totally aware that I am a huge Jo Malone fangirl and absolutely love so many of their fragrances (evidence of this here, here, here) but one thing that I've never really done before is combine the fragrances which is crazy considering the fact that Jo Malone fragrances are designed to layer perfectly with others - whilst obviously still being gorgeous by themselves - so I was extremely excited to get started with the process.

After nattering away with the girls, eating all the snacks and Instagramming everything, it was time for my fragrance consultation. We started by discussing my absolute favourite scents (Peony and blush suede and Wood Sage and sea salt which FYI, layer absolutely perfectly) and then went on to my favourite colour (in a desperate bid not to say black like a basic bitch I went for maroon) and my happy place (NYC, always) and after trying many combinations, we finally decided that Pomegranate noir and Dark Amber and gingerlily was my perfect fragrance combination.

We actually opted for the stunningly luxurious pomegranate noir body creme as a base, with Dark amber and gingerlily cologne over the top. So, let's get into the nitty gritty of the combination...

Pomegranate Noir Body Creme

Top note: Pomegranate
Heart note: Casablanca lily
Base note: Guaiacwood

Dark and enigmatic, the luxuriously rich body creme with it's conditioning oils of jojoba seed, cocoa seed and sweet almond help to nourish, hydrate and protect the skin.

Dark Amber and Gingerlily

Top note: Black cardamom
Heart note: Black orchid
Base note: Kyara incense

Enriched with amber and black orchid, illuminated by the clean sensuality of black cardamom, ginger and waterlily. Calm and relaxing.

So that's the techy part done, from my (totally uneducated on fragrance with the addition of having the descriptive skills of a 3 year old) point of view, I would say that why I love this combination so much is that starting with the body creme - which deserves a whole post in itself because it's the most nourishing, babe-in product in existence - not only nourishes the skin but makes the beautiful dark and rich scent really linger on the skin for longer, making it the perfect base to then go in with the slightly less intense, much more calming and relaxing but still totally decadent Dark amber and ginger lily over the top. Both scents combine so perfectly and have become my go to "special occasion"/"night out"* fragrance.

*We all know that my idea of a night out is going to pick up a takeaway to eat with a Harry Potter/Suits/Prison Break marathon, but who doesn't want to smell like a babe when perving on Harvey Spector and Michael Schofield? Yep, thought so...

So that brings my little fragrance combining rave/rundown to an end. I always feel slightly guilty when discussing scents because my descriptions can never do the brands justice but all I can say is that I would highly recommend the Jo Malone Fragrance combining consultations which are available at most stores, and are perfect for a special occasion, a treat for yourself or a family member or your wedding day (ahem, keep your eyes peeled, just saying... ) Whatever the occasion, finding your perfect combination is something totally decadent and luxurious and something that cannot fail to give you a huge lift and boost of confidence.

I would absolutely love to know what your favourite fragrance is? Do you have any favourite combinations from Jo Malone? Give me all the goss in the comments below :)

As always, thank you so much for reading!
