"Hi, my name's Elle, and I am a self confessed Jo Malone fangirl... "
No, this isn't some sort of AA/Fangirl anonymous post but it is a post about a brand that I absolutely rave about on a preeeetty regular basis and that's not about to change any time soon. So, let's talk about Jo Malone shall we? Oh you'd love to, you say? Well that's fab to hear...
Owner of - far too many [insert guilty/"sorry bank account but they're just too pretty" emoji here] - a lot of Jo Malone perfumes/products, I can genuinely say that I've never been disappointed by a product, so I do tend to be a little wary when they release a new fragrance because surely there will be one that I'm not much of a fan of soon?
Well, today is not that day, and I'm here to bore you all to death rave about the latest launch from the dreamy brand which comes in the form of the Orris and Sandalwood Cologne Intense*.
Once you get past the packaging of dreams - that black and silver though - and have a little sniff (technical terms, obvs), you are immediately hit with the most stunning sweet but sensual scent. I personally immediately picked up on a parma violet-like scent (which sounds awful but I promise it's just my severe lack of descriptive skills). I know quite a few others have said the same but I do have friends that just don't get that at all so in short, if you're by a Jo Malone store/stockist, you really should go in and try for yourself.
To give you a better idea of the scent - because nobody would buy a perfume ever again if they were going by my "parma violet-like" adjectives - here are the notes (anyway else feel fancy and like they actually know what they're talking about when they discuss notes? No? Just me then...)
Top Note: Violet
A delicate floral note that brings a smooth, powdery softness to the fragrance.
Heart Note: Orris
This powdery floral blends beautifully with white musk, elegantly enveloping the base with soft warmth.
Base Note: Sandalwood
Creamy, warm and sensual, it strengthens and extends the longevity of the fragrance.
I have to say, despite not having much knowledge of fragrance, reading about the notes really did make sense. Orris and Sandalwood is one of those strange - but absolutely amazing - contradictions of being floraly sweet, but it really does have the warmest, muskiest most sensual base that not only makes it perfect for both day and night, but also all year round. I do think it's especially gorgeous for this time of year though with it's sweet warmness being the perfect antidote for these dreary, rainy, cold days (oh god, don't get me started on the weather [insert cry face/"please lord just give me some sun" emoji here]).
Overall - ha, check me out concluding my blog posts like we were taught to in Year 4 - I absolutely
adore this stunning fragrance. By itself, it's a gorgeous, warm, musky and actually pretty
sexy scent, but it also layers so perfectly - particularly with
Mimosa and Cardamom which is another huge fave of mine - as well giving it even more depth. Also, because it's a cologne intense, the scent really does linger on your skin all day which I
love.
In short, go and sniff it in store and you will fall in love. And if you don't... we can't be friends! LOL JK, we totally can but I'll always resent you for dissing my scent ;)
I would love to know if you've purchased Orris and Sandalwood? Or even if you've managed to smell it yet? I know a lot of you mentioned that you went to try it out after my
Details post so I'd love to hear your thoughts!
As always, thanks so much for reading!
xx
