When you're born and bred in London, and you also happen to be a blogger that's lucky enough to attend lots of breakfast/brunch meetings, sometimes it can be a little hard to be blown away by a restaurant/experience. Don't get me wrong, for a girl that will happily dine in Nando's, I can definitely appreciate a stunning restaurant when I see one - I mean, I literally bore you all to death using the same "beautiful, delicious, incredible" adjectives in my many food reviews - but it takes something really special for me to be completely blown away.
The restaurant in today's post completely blew me away!
Darwin brasserie is set in
The Sky garden which if you haven't heard of it, is a breathtaking area at the top of the walkie talkie building complete with a garden -
no shit sherlock - restaurants and bars. I'll get on to the garden later but for now, let's appreciate just how beautiful
Darwin brasserie is, and of course... that view [insert
all the heart eye'd emoji's here].
Quite a few weeks back now, my beautiful blogging babe
Scarlett invited me for Brunch at the Darwin brasserie and after chewing each other's ears off - can we just take a moment to appreciate just how ridiculous/weird that phrase is? - we finally decided to start our brunch with tea. Breakfast tea for me
because I'm common and a green tea for Scarlett.
We then went on to order our breakfast. Now, we always have a good giggle because Scarlett and I are quite possibly the most awkward duo. Myself not being able to eat gluten, and Scarlett not being able to eat dairy, gluten (and I think something else) we really do put restaurants to the test but I am so pleased to say that Darwin Brasserie came up trumps. With the option to substitute normal bread with the gluten free variety, there wasn't a huge amount at all that was off limits for us gluten free beings.

After taking far too long trying to decide - I am that girl that a) takes an hour to even look at the menu because she talks too much and b) then takes another hour to decide because I'm so indecisive - I finally opted for the Eggs Benedict (standard Ellie/Blogger option) on a gluten free bread base and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't the biggest portion I've ever had but for what it lacked in size it definitely made up for in taste. The eggs were cooked just how I like them - #EggSnob - the hollandaise was so rich and creamy and the creamed spinach just totally topped it off perfectly. With the addition of some roasted tomatoes... this was one of my favourite brunches in a long time!
Scarlett went for some gluten free toast, smoked salmon and tomatoes and enjoyed hers too... in between taking photographs of everything because we both went pretty camera crazy! Once we had demolished eaten our brunch, it was time to head down to the garden.
I'm a tad sad - and I mean, non-happy sad, not loser sad... although I'm definitely that too - that these photo's don't quite do the Sky garden justice. It's such a huge, light and airy space filled with the lushest greenery leading right up to the top where the restaurants are. It really is something special and I just feel like there are no words - especially mine which rival the eloquent levels of a 2 year old - to really explain just how incredible it is.
Once I'd ooh'd and ahh'd (and Instagram'd all the photo's) it was time to head out to the viewing platform.
.... and this, this, is what took my breath away. We were blessed with a beautifully sunny day and the view was just absolutely incredible! I am currently thanking the lord that a picture says a thousand words because I really didn't have any. London, you really are a little babe sometimes....
Overall, I genuinely just had the nicest time catching up with Scarlett - who you need to check out if you haven't already - for hours, eating delicious food in the most stunning (but also really calming) setting, and generally taking a couple of hours out from life.
Have you ever been to The Sky Garden? What is your favourite London restaurant/experience? I would love to hear your thoughts!
As always, thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post.
xx
