Unless you've been hiding underneath a Netflix shaped rock for the past week - if you have been, you are doing life so right - you will no doubt know that last week marked a crazy arse time London Fashion week SS16. Now, I've spoken about my thoughts on fashion week many times before so this post isn't about that - insert "hallelujah"/hands raised emoji here - it's about picking yourself up after LFW (that's London fashion week but we're cool so we can abbreviate, right? Right... ) and giving yourself a huge pamper in the hope that the post LFW flu stays the f**k away.
Because behind the Instagram filters and dreamy street style photography, LFW really can be quite a stressful time, running from show to show and gaining blisters upon blisters upon blisters. (Do I need to say blisters one more time just to emphasise that fact? Blisters...)
So here are my favourite things for pampering myself post fashion week, but of course, these can be used for any pamper session.
Starting with the Basic Bitch option... a good old cuppa in bed. There is nothing in life that a good cuppa can't make better (tell me that when I have 3 posts to write, a video to edit and 300 emails to respond to) so of course, it's the first thing on my pamper menu. But this isn't any old cuppa - or an M&S cuppa - it's made in my new pride and joy, this gorgeous Royal Albert teacup and saucer that I received at an event recently and I am beyond obsessed with it. Not only does it make me feel 10 x classier than I am already - which isn't hard - but it's also an Instagram dream #SorryNotSorry.
Now that you're suitably more chilled and hydrated, it's time to run a bath and zen the sh*t out your mind. My favourite bath product right now is The Body Shop's Spa of the world Egyptian milk and honey bath*. I actually featured the Spa of the world range in my night time routine recently - so feel free to pop over and see it in action there - but it really is stunning. It smells incredible (as does the whole range), and the thing I loved most is that the scent really does fill the entire room (and hallway, and other rooms), it's not overpowering and is totally non-offensive so I really can't imagine anyone disliking this. A gorgeous product!
Next up from the collection is The Body shop's dead sea salt scrub* which toes the perfect line between being abrasive enough to actually smooth and exfoliate your skin, without taking off half of your skin with it. It smells incredible (as does the whole range) and comes in a huge tub that will no doubt last me a very long time!
Lastly in my bath product maven is Lush's The Comforter shower gel. Now I have to say, as much as I enjoy this it definitely doesn't replace the Rose Jam shower gel in my eyes, but it's pretty darn lovely. A very sweet, sherberty, candy-esque scent that really lingers nicely on the skin and foams so well. Plus, let's talk about how pretty it is for a moment? Yep, court dismissed...
Now, I have to say that I absolutely love the Spa of the world range from the body shop, it's by far my favourite of the lot and if you've been a long time reader, you'll know that that's saying something. But my all time favourite product from the range has to be the Camellia cream*. This cream not only smells like something that should cost all the dollar - think luxurious Jo Malone-esque scents - but it feels so rich and luxurious and without sounding like a pompous twat (because I really couldn't be any less pompous)... expensive.
Now that you're washed and exfoliated, it's time to get comfy and there is no other ensemble that I'm putting on than my Boohoo rib co-ord. "Are they pyjamas? Can you wear them outside?" (Well, you're probably not saying that but let's just go with it... ) In short, it's a co ord that is ridiculously comfortable and perfect to wear as a loungewear item but it's also somewhat trendy nowadays. You've probably seen it worn all over Instagram with the white and green accent Stan smith trainers which I personally love, but am well aware could be slightly love or hate.
Comfortable clothes on, it's time for chill time and I am the first to admit that I definitely don't get enough of this. Lighting a candle - Neom's Tranquility* being my absolute favourite at the moment because it's so calming and smells so spa-like (I am all about those spa vibes on a pamper evening) - indulging in some fresh flowers - because they're so pretty, and because... Instagram ;) - and then catching up on some of my favourite TV series and Youtubers is at the very top of my agenda.
On the subject of favourite Youtuber's, my current favourite - and somebody who is so perfect for the chilled, pamper type post - is Meg from Meg Says. Not only is she bloody gorgeous, produces incredible content and is generally just a joy to watch, but she has the most calming voice in existence. Watching Meg makes you feel like you're listening to a friend talk - we've spoken over twitter which means we're 100% friends, right? #LoserSays ;) - and I think is just one of those girl's girl's that you just want to be friends with. I highly recommend checking out her channel if you haven't already!
So that brings my post LFW pamper to an end. I have to say, I actually had quite a nice Fashion week this season but due to all of the technical issues and having to upload a video mid way through, there was still a hella lot of stress... so this routine was so needed.
I would love to know what your favourite pamper products/things are? How do you relax and unwind after a stressful time? I would love to hear your thoughts!
As always, thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!
xx
