I have spoken many times before about the amazing opportunities that blogging presents you with, and today, I am back with you doing exactly the same thing. Speaking about those "pinch me"/"This can not be my life" moments and hoping to not bore you all to death in the process ;)
I was recently invited to an event where all that I was told was that I'd be having lunch at The Charlotte Street hotel (let's face it, a good enough reason to attend in itself) whilst also taking a trip to Office in Covent Garden to "add to our shoe collection". I mean, let's face it, it was a no-brainer that I was going to be there, with bells on too.
Whilst the details of the day were vague, the level of pampering myself and the lovely fellow bloggers received, alongside the information we were given on the day, was certainly not. In short, the event was put on by a brand called Odor Eaters who make a variety of insoles and sprays for shoes. It was an absolutely incredible day so rather than continuing to wax lyrical about how fab it was for the next few hours, let's have a little run down of the day shall we? Yes, yes we shall. Off to Office Covent Garden it is.
We started at Covent Garden's Office store in Neal Street where we were given a voucher so we could go and pick out a pair of shoes with. Which sounds amazing right? I mean, it is amazing, truly amazing... however when you have the indecisive skills of a 3 year old and are surrounded by all the amazing shoes, it's pretty tough #FirstWorldProblems. In the end, I opted for an incredible pair of pointed, sling back loafers which I cannot stop wearing and will be popping up on my blog constantly once I'm well enough to start pratting around in front of a camera again i.e take outfit photo's.
Just some of the lovely ladies who attended the event. All such gorgeous ladies that I can't wait to catch up with again soon! Jess, Jess and Rachel.
After we'd all chosen our shoes - which took some time, put 8/9 girls in a shoe shop and they will go wild - we headed over to Charlotte Street hotel (can we just take a moment to appreciate how ridiculously stunning it is?) for a 3 course lunch (which I genuinely still dream about 3 weeks later) where we finally found out, in essence, why we were even there. The lovely team from Odor eaters introduced us to their amazing line of insoles and in particular, the Slim sole. I'll go into further details on those little life savers later on as we were also told some really really interesting facts about feet (which sounds all kinds of gross, I know, but actually we were all engrossed.) Here are a selection of said facts;
The average person walks 115,000 miles in a lifetime which is more than walking around the world 4 times.
3/4 women hang on to shoes that are really uncomfortable.
In a pair of feet there are 250,000 sweat glands.
Women have 4 times as many foot problems as men.
20,000 women per year in the UK are hospitalised due to footwear related accidents. Most of those due to high heels.
2/3 of women buy shoes knowing that they'll suffer for style (*confession time* I am one of those!)
Pretty incredible/harrowing/gross/interesting all in one right?
After being inundated with obviously tweetable facts (which we all did right away, blogging events are possibly the only place where it's not rude to get your phone out and start tweeting mid sentence) We went around the room looking at all of our shoe picks and it was clear to see that no matter what shoes we opted for - wedges, trainers, loafers, espadrilles - these random, tiny little insoles just fitted in.
Said random little insoles are Odor Eater Slim soles. So, what's the point in them and why do you need them in your life. In short, they are totally discreet insoles that neutralise foot odor - ain't nobody got time for smelly feet - controls sweat and offer triple protection. Also (in my opinion) they make shoes more comfortable to wear which is a total bonus for somebody that suffers for fashion i.e me. They retail for just £4.49 and are available at Superdrug so I'd highly recommend checking them out.
So, this brings me to the end of this post and I must say, even a few weeks on I still feel so lucky to have been invited to such an incredible event so a huge thank you to Nexus PR, Odor Eaters, Charlotte Street Hotel and Office for all being so god damn amazing. I actually vlogged the day and that video is now up on my channel. Feel free to subscribe so that you don't miss out on future video's.
If Carlsberg did self-indulgent video plugs.... ;)
As always, thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!
